Caregivers often feel or find themselves isolated as they care for aging/sick/dying loved ones。 Caregivers will recognize their own experiences in those recorded here -- and may be inspired or encouraged by stories of those struggling with a similar situation -- or the aftermath left by it。

I was very impressed by book and learn about various story of caregivers and what they they go through。 Well worth reading for caregivers。 I especially recall the one about a bed ridden lady who had a sister and suggested that she pray and then she helped some with difficult situations。

Most of the stories contributed had the "expected" endings。。。talking more about finding supports, making of life adjustments when a family member needs care giving attention etc。Might be more inspirational to readers who are going through caregiving stresses at the moment。 Most of the stories contributed had the "expected" endings。。。talking more about finding supports, making of life adjustments when a family member needs care giving attention etc。Might be more inspirational to readers who are going through caregiving stresses at the moment。 。。。more

This is a must read for anyone who is a caregiver or thinks he/she may become one。 I wish I had read this prior to caring for my Mom or even when I first began caring for her。 Great suggestions of others to read for caregivers as well。

If you have ever had to take care of a loved one, you will know how hard it is, but also how self-rewarding it can be。 Before my own dad died, he needed care, and a home was not going to happen。 That's where I came in as well as his girlfriend。 She went and woke him up each morning and made sure he had breakfast and his medicine, then she went to work。 I would go there in the late morning, visit, then make his lunch。 Also making sure he took his insulin。 Then I would engage him in more conversat If you have ever had to take care of a loved one, you will know how hard it is, but also how self-rewarding it can be。 Before my own dad died, he needed care, and a home was not going to happen。 That's where I came in as well as his girlfriend。 She went and woke him up each morning and made sure he had breakfast and his medicine, then she went to work。 I would go there in the late morning, visit, then make his lunch。 Also making sure he took his insulin。 Then I would engage him in more conversation and at times on his good days, get him to go for a small walk。 Then I would go home and make supper for my family, and shortly after his girlfriend would arrive after work and they had supper together and get more insulin。 She would stay until bedtime, or stay on weekends, or even take him to her house for the night。 This became routine, and I was good with it。 As I said, sometimes it was tough, like when dad had a bad day, but the rewarding part was the time I got to spend with him。 The talks。 I learned a lot in those talks in that time。This book was filled with stories like mine, and while reading I really did connect with each one, even if the situation was different。 It's the "care" that is universal。Truly inspiring to know how many people would go that extra mile for the ones they love。 。。。more

Since my story was in here, I'd be pretty dumb not to give it 5 stars。 I wrote a story about connecting with my mom as she was dying with lung cancer, but it was an uplifting story。 She gave me my love of reading and I'll be forever grateful。 Since my story was in here, I'd be pretty dumb not to give it 5 stars。 I wrote a story about connecting with my mom as she was dying with lung cancer, but it was an uplifting story。 She gave me my love of reading and I'll be forever grateful。 。。。more
